The supervisee will therefore be responsible for choosing what material to bring and will also be responsible for what they take from the supervision and how that learning is applied. The supervisor will be responsible for offering reflective guidance and support, which will include training, inquiry and teaching. The process will entail investigative dialogue and exploration around issues brought to supervision. In the supervisory process there will be the intention to encourage: Development of personal practice- exploring the dynamic interface between personal practice and the teaching or professional use of mindfulness-based approaches. Development of teaching practice- this is focused differently depending on the teaching experience of the supervisee: some engage with the process when input is required on setting up a mindfulness course; others are engaged in an ongoing process of reflection which is dedicated to a sustained deepening understanding of their personal and teaching process and refining instructional approaches and skills. Integration of mindfulness within the supervisee’s professional role. This may be in relation to therapeutic work with individuals or other areas such as delivering the MBSR or business and organisational applications of mindfulness-based approaches. Arrangements for the sessions The supervisor and supervisee will arrange the supervision contract as suits the needs of the supervisee and the availability of the supervisor and, as such, are to be negotiated together. The supervisee needs to email the dates for commencement of their course and suggest a selection of times when they are available for supervision to info@mindfulnessuk.com. A supervisor will be allocated to the supervisee and notified of the supervisee’s requirements. The supervisor will be responsible for administering the agreement/contract and will liaise directly with the supervisee henceforth. Session details Zoom-a recurring link will be sent for each of your supervision sessions. MBSR Trainees Only Arrangements are made for those teaching the 2 MBSR courses under supervision as part of the teacher training pathway-details are as follows: Duration of each session to include: 1) 45 mins prior to the course commencement 2) 20 mins after session 1,3 and 5 3) 45 mins after the whole course to assess and review the course and advise on changes for next time All Supervision and Mentoring Please note: these sessions should not be deemed as clinical supervision and the supervisee will be expected to make separate arrangements for this. This does not preclude supervisees from using the process to explore their mindfulness practice with different client groups and in different settings, but as a training establishment MindfulnessUK cannot take responsibility for direct clinical work. Confidentiality Discussions in the sessions will normally be held in complete confidence. It is understood that the supervisor may take any appropriate matters arising from this supervision to his/her own supervision process. All reasonable care will be taken to ensure the supervisee’s anonymity. If the supervisor is sufficiently concerned about a matter with serious criminal, ethical or personal implications told to him/her by the supervisee, s/he reserves the right to break confidentiality by discussing this with another responsible person. Every effort will be made to discuss this with the supervisee in the first instance. If audio or video clips are used as part of the supervision process, the supervisee will ensure that the client(s) or patient(s) is/are explicitly aware of this and gain their written consent(s) to recorded material being used for this purpose. The supervisee will be asked to provide specific teachings in the form of audio/ video via WeTransfer as the files will be too large to attach to an email. Initial statement of aims and expectations of supervisee, with any additional information for the supervisor: Data protection Supervisors will keep process notes of the supervision sessions to enable completion of the supervisor statement for the supervisee’s registration with BAMBA. Notes will be kept securely for one year on completion of the contract and then destroyed, as per the GDPR regulations. It is the responsibility of the supervisee to keep notes on what has been discussed within their session that is relevant to them and must adhere to their own professional process regarding data as a result of the sessions and GDPR regulations. These notes may be included in the portfolio on completion of the teacher training pathway. Administrative and invoicing procedures The supervision costs are as follows: MBSR £280 (incl VAT) for each of the first 2 supervised MBSR courses as part of the MBSRTT.
