Looking After Your Staff Is More Than Making Sure They Have Coffee And A First Aid Kit! #MentalHealth

Mental-health problems are on the increase and this silent illness is manifesting itself in every business across the world. Sick leave for mental-health problems are on the increase and in some cases staff can be away from their desks for months whilst they try and battle back to good health.

Stress is now the number one culprit. Sadly, if left uncared for it can lead into depression and anxiety. This silent threesome are manifesting into a real problem in the work place, but with careful planning and help it doesn’t need to be this way.

Companies that put effort into ensuring their employees stay healthy both physically and mentally find themselves reaping significant rewards in terms of greater productivity with less sick leave.

When it comes to health in the workplace there are multiple reasons why looking after your staff is a good thing. We are not just talking morally or ethically, the bottom line is that there are fewer people doing more work and longer hours so the only way to keep your staff well and productive is for employers to look after their health.

When it comes to mental-health, minimising work stress is paramount and having an environment in which stress and anxiety can be managed and discussed freely with management is crucial.

Mindfulness is a proven practice that allows people to learn to live in the moment, taking notice of the way they are feeling and learning to become aware of their thoughts. It is recommended by the National Institute For Health & Care Excellence (NICE) as a way to prevent depression and to treat anxiety.

We have been teaching Mindfulness for many years to both private individuals and business employees and have seen first hand the huge benefits to health that Mindfulness brings. Our latest Minding Your Health In Education programme for pupils and staff has been a fantastic success and this year we are thrilled to be members of the UK Network for “Mindfulness Based Teacher Training Organisations” which offers best practice and strict guidelines of excellence in the format and delivery of Mindfulness.

At MindfulnessUK we have recognised the problem that businesses have in devising and offering a solution to assist their staff with managing stress and anxiety and we are delighted to have come up with a solution for you.

For the past eighteen months we have been working hard to adapt our attended eight week Mindfulness Stress Reduction Course into an on-line version suitable for all, no matter what size your business is.
