There is a huge amount of evidence that Mindfulness reduces stress and anxiety and improves wellbeing in educational settings. Just this past week the BBC programme, The Truth About Stress, highlighted the positive effects of Mindfulness for Children, including exam stress and developing positive relationships.
This week is Mental Health Awareness Week and MindfulnessUK is focusing on supporting this national campaign by raising awareness in schools, delivering their Minding Your Health Wellbeing Programme.
We have trained Child and Adolescent Mental Health Practitioners, School Nurses and Support Workers and currently deliver in 5 Somerset schools, a mix of primary, secondary and SEN, the feedback is very heartening and positive:
“It has had a very positive impact on bringing our staff together and giving them time to focus on themselves. People have been more aware of their stress levels and how to manage them.”
“We use mindful practices with the children and this is having a positive impact on calming them and helping them to focus.”
MindfulnessUK, who work in partnership with national organisations such as the Mental Health Foundation, is the first Independent Training Organisation in the South West to become a Member of the UK Network for Mindfulness-Based Teacher Training Organisations.
Minding Your Health is available to all schools and organisations and benefits both staff and children. It is a practical 20-hour Mindfulness and Compassion Wellbeing Programme using a blended learning approach and flexible delivery to meet the needs of individual organisations.
