Position: Director of the Mindfulness Initiative
Deadline for applicants: 9 am on Tuesday 8 August 2023

An exciting opportunity has arisen to lead an innovative mindfulness organisation
through a period of change; to be an ambassador at the interface of the highest
decision makers and to influence the direction of policy and policy making at this very
important time.

The Mindfulness Initiative is seeking a compelling visionary; a seasoned fundraiser
and a contemplative leader – who embeds mindfulness into all aspects of their
professional practice and brings a lens of diversity, equity and inclusivity into the
heart and central activity of the organisation.

Responsibilities
The Director will:
• Function as the primary fundraiser to ensure that the organisation is
sustainable and in a strong position to develop its strategic vision.
• Lead, cultivate and strengthen relationships with high profile individuals,
including politicians, senior civil servants and funders.
• Develop thought-leading policy and political interventions to ensure The
Mindfulness Initiative remains at the forefront of thinking, in viewing
mindfulness as a foundational capacity that supports inner-led change - for
the health and wellbeing of individuals and societies.
• Lead and manage the charity, ensuring team members and consultants are
well supported, motivated and delivering on the charity’s vision.
• Understand, support and be an advocate for issues of diversity, equity, and
inclusivity (DEI) in the mindfulness field, and brings this lens into all areas of

• Ensure the Mindfulness All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) is effectively
and creatively serviced and supported.
• Oversee and manage operational and financial commitments for the charity,
including charity commission compliance and other legal requirements.
• Set the overall strategic direction for the charity in partnership with the board.
• Act as ambassador for the organisation with key stakeholder forums and
public spaces.
• Represent mindfulness issues in the media and deliver a communications plan
to promote the goals and objectives of The Mindfulness Initiative.

Person Specification

Essential
• Evidence of successful fundraising
• Mindfulness practice and experience – in one or more of the following:
teaching / training / research / leadership / policy.
• Ambassadorial qualities – and highly developed relational, communication
and networking skills.
• Organisational leadership skills with sound experience of developing and
implementing grounded policies and strategies, managing finances, leading
teams, and coping with the challenges of working solo much of the time.
• Capacity to cultivate and communicate inspiring vision that addresses UK wide
and global concerns whilst staying grounded in the everyday running of the
organisation and those who work within it.

Desirable
• Knowledge of UK politics and the workings of Westminster

Salary and reporting details
• A salary of £60,000 per year is being offered as a full-time equivalent salary.
• Hours: Flexible working options considered, and some evening and weekend
work will be required.

• Location: This is a remote working position, but the candidate must be UK-
based and within an easy day trip to London. The candidate must have the

right to work in the UK.
