Module 8: Feeling Connected

Welcome to module 8.
This course is broken into a series of modules and lessons. You may scroll down the lessons on each module, or use the links in the menus on the left to jump to any point within each module.

Practice: Mountain meditation

It’s so easy to get caught up in our own emotions or the emotions of others, and be easily swept up in the chaos.  This practice helps us to create a sense of stability and equanimity, to feel more rooted and grounded. When we can do this, it builds our resilience to face our more difficult experiences.

In module 8 you have the opportunity to reflect on what you have learnt.

Using your journal, take some time to consider:

What have I learnt?
You may want to take some time and go back through your notes or the modules to remind yourself of the practices and content of the course

How can I use what I have learnt socially, at home and at work?
Consider how you can use the practices in all aspects of your life

What will you do to maintain your practice?
Ideas can include find a local group, join the MindfulnessUK weekly drop in session, book in some retreats, put reminders in your calendar, etc.

Letter to oneself

This is a fun and effective exercise that helps to consolidate everything you have learnt, the changes that you have noticed and where you hope to take your practice.

Grab a piece of paper and take 10 minutes to write a personal letter to yourself and when you finish it,  put it away safely somewhere to be taken out and read in 3 months’ time.

The letter can contain whatever words of encouragement you want to give yourself e.g., what I have learnt, what did I most respond to and what do I intend to do with this learning? Maybe also set an aspiration for 3 months’ time?

Finally set a reminder to read the letter on your chosen date.

A Return to Love by Marianne Williamson

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves,
Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?
Actually, who are you not to be?
Your playing small does not serve the world.
There is nothing enlightened about shrinking
So that other people won’t feel insecure around you.
We are all meant to shine, as children do.
We were born to make manifest the glory of God
that is within us.
It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone.
And as we let our own light shine,
we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our own fear,
our presence automatically liberates others.”

Thank you
